Deputy Governor Franz Manderson has selected Personal Assistant to a Grand Court Judge Joanne Cox as the Cayman Islands Government Employee of the Month for March for delivering an outstanding customer service experience.

Mr Manderson made the presentation at Kirk House last Monday (29 April) to Ms Cox who is the Personal Assistant the Hon Justice Ingrid Mangatal.

In making the presentation the Deputy Governor stated, "Ms Cox is always willing to assist colleagues without being asked. An example of this is when the Registrar of the Court of Appeal required assistance with several administrative duties during a clean-up exercise and due to increased work in the Court of Appeal. Ms Cox jumped in and assisted the Registrar with her work over an extended period (over many, many months) and she did this without a request for consideration of a duty allowance."

Every year, the Judiciary delivers some 200 Judgments. Ms Cox, who started working at the Judicial Department in March 2016, has made a difference in the dissemination of those Judgements. In addition to her role as a Personal Assistant, she receives, coordinates and distributes the Judgments for publication on the Judicial website.

Further, on her own initiative, Ms Cox developed a written guidance document for new Personal Assistants to Judges as a result of her experiences and has trained many new staff members who have that role.

The Judicial Administration's Court Administrator & Chief Officer Suzanne Bothwell was on hand to present Ms Cox with her Chief Officer's Choice pin and certificate. Mrs Bothwell lauded the EOM winner: "It is a pleasure working with Ms Cox. Her professionalism and diligence are greatly appreciated, as it gives me, her Judge and the Hon Chief Justice confidence that she is capable of performing her duties at a high standard. In addition, she adds value to the organisation by being a real team player, being willing to lend her talents broadly across the organisation, to learn new things and also develop others."
