About Us
The Cayman Islands Postal Service (CIPS) has long been an important part of Island life. We provide an essential service to all businesses and households and are part of the global postal network. Our vision is to be our customers chosen provider of worldwide distribution solutions.
We are in a unique position because we have the capacity to reach more residents in the Cayman Islands than any other business. People trust our ability to safely handle their letters and parcels. We employ nearly 100 people. Every working day we collect and process more than 40,000 pieces of mail and deliver them to 11,000 post boxes across all three islands.
The CIPS is looking to the future by trying to stay one step ahead of our customers needs. The introduction of postcodes, mail drops and Value-Added Services is only part of this effort. We are constantly striving to find ways in which to make the Post Office more user-friendly, and we are currently looking into new technologies to bring more options to our customers.
Business solutions
For businesses the Postal Service has many solutions. For instance, companies such as utilities that have to send out huge quantities of mail can apply for a bulk mailer permit, saving them the trouble of stamping those envelopes. Metered postage (Franklin Meter) allows for companies to cut down on stamping time and it is an easy way to keep track of postage cost. About our stamps
Cayman Islands stamps are known internationally for their beauty and their appealing themes, some of which reflect Caymanians way of life and cultural heritage, and others that picture the Islands living marine and terrestrial treasures. Philatelists, or stamp collectors, have valued Cayman Islands stamps highly for decades.
Government and CIPS
The Cayman Islands Postal Service falls under the umbrella of Ministry of Communications, Works and Infrastructure. We are governed by Postal Regulations, which can be purchased from the Legislative Assembly. CIPS is a member of the Universal Postal Union since (UPU) as an Oversea Territory of Great Britain.
Freedom of Information
The Cayman Islands Postal Service has created a publication scheme detailing information readily available to the public. Further information on the new Freedom of Information law can be found at the website of the Freedom of Information Unit.
