Message by the Premier

The Premier, Hon. Alden McLaughlin, MBE, JP

The elected Government is here to set objectives and to establish the necessary policy framework that reflect the priorities we were elected to achieve. We rely on the Civil Service to take the action needed to deliver our objectives and to implement the policies we have put in place.

I believe this 5-Year Strategic Plan is vital in equipping the Civil Service to become more effective as it undertakes that delivery and implementation of tasks in an increasingly complex and fast-moving environment.

My Government recognises the need to enhance both the capactiy and the capability of the Civil Service in order for it to successfully implement the agenda we have set for it. For that reason, my Government and I are committed to working with and supporting the Deputy Governor and his senior leadership team as they drive forward the refrom agenda that this 5-Year Strategic Plan represents.

Making the proposed improvements will not be easy, but such change is critical to achieve the Government's policy agenda, provide better servies to our customers and stakeholders and create a more conducive work environment for civil servants to perform at their best.

As leaders of the Civil Service take responsibility for implementing the actions set out in this plan, and for making sure the change that is envisioned becomes a reality, I pledge the continuing support of Government and wish them every success.
