The Deputy Governor, Hon. Franz Manderson, Cert. Hon., JP
As Deputy Governor, I am both challenged and energised by the new and courageous vision that has emerged from our strategic planning process:
“To be a World-Class Civil Service."
Underpinning this vision is a sole but powerful shared purpose:
“To make the lives of those we serve better.”
We embarked on this journey by taking bold steps through the “Civil Service Reimagined” initiative to consult with civil servants and other key stakeholders and to lay a foundation for our Strategic Plan. From the input and feedback received, the new vision for a “World-Class Civil Service” emerged, supported by five priority areas of focus for the next five years:
- Deliver Outstanding Customer Experience;
- Develop Exceptional Leadership;
- Pursue Excellence in Talent Development;
- Foster Effective Communication;
- Demonstrate Excellence in Governance Practices.
These priority areas are supported by strategic objectives and actions that will be implemented under the leadership of Chief Officers and facilitated by the Portfolio of the Civil Service and the Cabinet Office.
We will know when we have achieved success when our customers look forward to doing business with us, our elected leaders value our work, and civil servants feel a sense of pride to work for a Civil Service that is an employer of choice. I am very proud of the progress and improvements we have already made together as a Civil Service and I look forward to engaging all civil servants, as we work together to deliver our new vision.
I am confident that, together, we can make the changes necessary to be a “World-Class” Civil Service, which delivers results that keep pace with customer demands and global competitive forces.
As this Strategic Plan represents a major step in the transformation of the Civil Service, the plan will be revisited and updated as we move forward with our collective agenda for change.
