Employee Engagement

When civil servants are positively encouraged to perform at their best they will do more to achieve Government’s priorities and departmental objectives, providing better public services and programmes. That is why Employee Engagement is one of two critical success factors, or primary measures of progress, for our 5-Year Strategic Plan for a World-Class Civil Service. The other is Customer Satisfaction.

There is clear evidence from international studies that there is a link between increasing levels of employee engagement having positive impacts on customer service, employee well-being and organisational performance.

Engaging employees benefits individual employees, teams, and whole organisations. When the right conditions are created, all members of an organisation give their best each day – committed to their organisation’s goals and values, motivated to contribute to organisational success, with an enhanced sense of their own well-being.

The Portfolio of the Civil Service launched the first annual Civil Service Engagement Survey in October/November 2017 and it is now an annual exercise conducted in October each year.
